Composition 103 introduces the different ways that critical thinking can improve writing. Using a variety of styles such as memoir, narrative, poetry, exposition, persuasion, and comparison, the students are encouraged to go beyond the fundamentals of writing and grow in confidence using their voice. Adding resources to further strengthen writing will be introduced. The final unit of the course will include a multi-week research project. Self-reflection as a revision technique is a focus of the class. Students use a workshop approach to critique, revise, and edit one another’s work.
Composition 103 is designed for 8th-12th graders who have had structured writing instruction in the past.

Write from the Heart is an online composition and literature program designed for homeschoolers in middle and high school. We offer annual classes in composition, literature, and AP English. We also offer 4-week Workshop Intensives and a paper evaluation service for students in all educational environments. Our goal is to help students find their voices and grow in writing and critical thinking skills.
