Course Description
Chemistry is the study of matter: anything that has mass and takes up space. In this year-long high school chemistry class, students will explore the fundamentals of chemistry including atomic structure, states of matter, the organization (and beauty) of the periodic table, ionic and covalent bonding, chemical nomenclature, the mole concept, stoichiometry, chemical reactions, thermochemistry, the behavior of gases, and acids and bases.
Concepts will be taught using a variety of methods including lectures, videos, virtual and hands-on labs, interactive simulations, and textbooks. Students will learn how they use chemistry in everyday life and learn to see science all around them.
Students should be prepared to complete weekly homework assignments designed to aid them in understanding and practicing chemistry concepts.
This class is asynchronous but has weekly deadlines.
An honors-level track is available for those who want it.
Price is for 1 semester – this is a 2-semester class
